Legs and Utopia

These photos are from two summer photo exhibitions:  Totem Legs and Utopia

 Exhibition 1.

METApolis photo group presented a photo exhibition with the title "Ουτοπία - Utopia". Duration:   22/06/2012 – 1/07/2012

A few word in Greek about the concept: "Μία «Ουτοπία» πάντα συνδέεται έντονα με μια αισιόδοξη, ιδεαλιστική, σχεδόν αδύνατη και ανέφικτη τελειότητα που όμως οδηγεί ιστορικά στο δυνατό και στο εφικτό. Θα μπορούσε να είναι ευτοπία ή δυστοπία, αλλά η δική μας είναι «Ουτοπία» (ου+τόπος) γιατί φεύγοντας από τη γεωγραφική και χρονική πραγματικότητα που δεν μας καλύπτει, δημιουργούμε τη δική μας, την «Ουτοπία» της Τέχνης με μόνες σταθερές το Φως και τη Φωτογραφική μας Μηχανή. Εκεί όπου ο καλλιτέχνης εξαφανίζεται μέσα από το δημιούργημά του, αφομοιώνεται σε μια εμμονή, σε μια μικρογραφία του σύγχρονου αστικού τοπίου, σε μια φθαρμένη υλικότητα που μεταβάλλεται κάθε στιγμή σε κάτι νέο."

Exhibition 2.

“Totem Legs”

The photographer Vangelis Rassias presents the photography exhibition “Totem legs” with 23 black white selected artworks at the MCF Bar | Resto as well as at its open air space on the 3rd floor.

Totem for the primeval animistic societies used to be the symbol of a sacred cult. Female legs have been characterized as cults in every culture. This devotion has been expressed to the outmost in the cultures of the West, where legs – Totem have marked the Western Civilization for centuries.
The exhibition will be open until October 31st 2012
