The vision of the curator of this exhibition is to assemble works of contemporary artists who, by their tactics, bring forth the reading of the world as a permanent global variation, where apparently insignificant details of daily practice find their meaning in the evolution of things, and the conjunctures are no longer problematic imponderable factors but the field of genesis of new dynamics.

In those works and tactics, a kind of intelligence still survives, which does not paralyze in front of the unpredictable (the conjunctions), which is able to cope with perplexities in front of the distance that separates an ideal project from the effort of its implementation.

For the Suspended Forces, Daphne Dragona writes (translated by Maria Petrides);

"Anna Lascari’s new body of work, Suspended Forces, refers to the contemporary multitude, its ambivalence and irresolute way of being. Bearing in mind that the concept of multitude – as Paolo Virno refers to it – cannot but contain consent and conflict, resistance and destruction, the artist points afresh to the image of a swarm in order to reflect on these opposing forces, and to inscribe the con-formation of this multitude in our existing reality..."

For three years now anger has been alternating with grief, shame with fear, while the horror of imminent disaster leaves us empty, staring into a void. 

For the past three years all conversations seem to have revolved around numbers and percentages, financial terms, acronyms in foreign languages, safe and unsafe liabilities, sustainable and unsustainable conditions, deals, accords, treaties, and so on. 

Each and every one of us watches events unfold, silently, in front of the TV screen. Yet, every day, even if for just a moment, something breaks through the harsh skin created by the fall and manages to penetrate deeper, bringing a little warmth to the day. 

It is something different for each of us: a friend’s concern, a pat on the back at work, solidarity and affection between partners. We long for intimacy in our private world, we take courage from our common destiny. This is my country. I intend to stay.  [ source ]

An error derives from an attempt, an experiment, a respect for the random and the unexpected. The error takes us by surprise, shocks and terrifies us.

The error hides in the beginning to attack in the end. The error destroys a direction to create many.

Opposite to the culture of awarding the probable, the predictable, the “right”, Beetroot’s new and exciting exhibition demonstrates the power that lies in the “right to error”.

The error is arguably the most important step in human progress, as only through error can we demonstrate our determination to feel, understand and make it…right…
