Michalitsiano’s Dreams
"Nikos Michalitsiano’s painting exhibition, “Dreams”. The artist is showing work created from 2004, part of which was previously exhibited at the Hellenic Center of London.
Dreams are the painter’s source of inspiration in his latest works where he alters or strengthens the impression of space in proportion to the human figure and the need of the synthesis. Michalitsianos creates thus a dialogue between reality and fiction.
His works have two scales and two levels reminding a theatrical scene: the model, in smaller scale, naturally lighted, and the space created by the painting narration, presented as the image of the imaginary in large scale. Light plays an essential role in his work as it intensifies the theatrical sense.
The artist works on wood and fabric, while in his latest work he adds PVC using its painted transparency to give a perspective on a two level synthesis."
