Ice and Pinewood Trees

We hit the road…
And we got nowhere.
We hit stoneway to the land of soul.
In the grass we laid
And watched the swallows.
We burned the field to feel the hollow.

The smell of the sea…
And the salty spray…
We shed all our skins
To feed the waves.

I asked the water,
Our long lost friend;
'Water, take us,
We've gone astray.'

The smell of the sea…
And the salty spray…
We shed all our skins
To feed the waves.

I washed my face in muddy water…
And healed my soul in burning sand…
I licked your wounds with tongues of grass
And we watched, yeah, we watched…
Yes, we watched…
Ships and cities pass.
